Opposition MP Jone Usamate has urged Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to take immediate action against Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga over concerns regarding his legal interpretation skills. In an interview with FijiLive, Usamate emphasized that Turaga’s cited authority for suspending Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa is legally unfounded. He raised further alarm over the inconsistency in how allegations of misconduct are addressed within the government, highlighting that while Dr. Nakarawa has been placed on leave, Barbara Malimali, who is currently under investigation for multiple allegations, has faced no similar consequences.
