Calgary-based forward Ali Naseri found the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice-Cream Battle of the Giants tournament to be a challenging yet thrilling experience, greatly contrasting with his prior football engagements.
Speaking to FijiLive, the 18-year-old striker from Nadi discussed the tournament’s high physical demands, which he described as more intense than those at his previous clubs.
“It’s physical soccer here in Fiji but I did my best for Nadi FC,” Naseri stated.
The Afghan national faced a tough ordeal when he was sidelined during a group match following an injury scare, which fortunately turned out to be minor.
This stint with the Jetsetters is Naseri’s first experience in Fijian football, an opportunity he values for the lessons learned and the resilience it demands.
Naseri expressed his gratitude to the team’s coaches, management, and fellow players for their support and guidance through the training sessions and games.
