Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced an impending reshuffle of portfolios within his Cabinet. This announcement was made during an interview at the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards held in Nadi on Saturday. When inquired about the reasons for this reshuffle, Mr. Rabuka emphasized the need to manage responsibilities better as they are halfway through their term. He stated, “I don’t have to be taking too many responsibilities.”

In the same interview, the Prime Minister addressed rumors concerning Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua and alleged drug-related investigations. Mr. Rabuka clarified that such allegations are unfounded and unrelated to Mr. Tikoduadua’s decision to temporarily step aside from his responsibilities. He explained that the current investigation pertains specifically to the Department of Immigration.

As a result of these developments, Mr. Rabuka has decided to reassign the Department of Immigration and the Fiji Police Force to his own portfolio. Despite stepping aside from Home Affairs, Mr. Tikoduadua continues to serve as Minister for Defence, overseeing the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Veterans’ Affairs.

This reshuffle signifies the Prime Minister’s proactive approach in managing the government’s responsibilities and ensuring ongoing investigations are handled transparently. Mr. Rabuka’s actions may ultimately lead to a more streamlined government operation and reinforce the public’s confidence in the integrity of the Cabinet.

Summary: Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will reshuffle Cabinet portfolios, citing a need to manage responsibilities better. He addressed rumors about Minister Pio Tikoduadua’s investigations, clarifying that no drug allegations are involved. The Department of Immigration and Fiji Police Force will now fall under Rabuka’s portfolio, while Tikoduadua remains the Defence Minister. This move points to Rabuka’s commitment to transparency and effective governance.
