Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced plans for a reshuffle of Cabinet portfolios. He made this announcement during an interview at the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards held in Nadi on Saturday. Rabuka explained that, at this midpoint in his term, he believes it is unnecessary for him to bear an excessive number of responsibilities.

Additionally, Rabuka addressed rumors regarding Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua, clarifying that the Minister is not under investigation for drug-related issues. He stated that Tikoduadua is temporarily stepping aside due to an ongoing investigation related to the Department of Immigration. As part of the reshuffle, Rabuka has decided to take over the responsibilities of both the Department of Immigration and the Fiji Police Force. Tikoduadua will continue to serve as the Minister of Defence, overseeing the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Veterans’ Affairs.

This restructuring within the Cabinet reflects Rabuka’s commitment to effective governance and accountability, allowing him to focus on critical areas while ensuring that investigations proceed without conflict. Such changes can often lead to improved efficiency and transparency in government operations.

In summary, the Prime Minister is proactively reshuffling his Cabinet roles amidst ongoing investigations, aiming to streamline responsibilities while dispelling unfounded allegations against key personnel. This could pave the way for more effective leadership and governance in Fiji.
