The Cabinet has approved the Final Report of the National Security and Defence Review (NSDR). The review was spearheaded by Independent Review Lead James Sanday, with assistance from an Editorial Board that included Professor Satish Chand, Assistant Professor Ana Rokomokoti, and Associate Professor Shailendra Singh.
The NSDR Report was produced after thorough consultations with more than 50 stakeholders, including government representatives, community members, and civil society organizations. A public version of the Final Report will be released, along with a public validation workshop planned for the end of October 2024.
In addition, an inter-agency taskforce led by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration is set to begin drafting a National Security Strategy (NSS), which is expected to be completed by December 2024. This strategy will incorporate the insights and recommendations outlined in the NSDR Final Report.
