Head coach Mick Byrne is optimistic about his team’s readiness for the upcoming match against Japan but remains cautious about the challenges posed by the host nation in the final.
Byrne acknowledged, “We know Japan will bring a lot of speed to their game, and we need to ensure we set ourselves up early, particularly in defense.”
The FIJI Water-sponsored squad is set to face Japan in the final of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup, taking place at Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Higashiosaka on Saturday.
He emphasized the importance of being sharp with their set pieces and tackling skills, stating, “We need to be really strong in defense and make our tackles while dominating in the collision areas to slow down their fast-paced game, as they excel in that style.”
The final match is scheduled to kick off at 10:05 PM.
