Businessman Nahroon Buksh has pleaded not guilty to a charge of obtaining a financial advantage by deception during his appearance at Suva Magistrates Court. The charge, presided over by Resident Magistrate Pulekeria Low, involves allegations that Buksh impersonated a licensed real estate agent to sell property in Kinoya that did not belong to him, misleading a couple interested in purchasing it.

The prosecution claims that between December 10, 2020, and August 23, 2021, Buksh unlawfully acquired $6,000 from the couple through this deception. Prosecutor Lavenia Ravuikadavu stated that the prosecution intends to call 13 witnesses, whereas the defense plans to call Buksh as the sole witness. Notably, there are partial admissions from a prior caution interview that the defense has opted not to contest.

The court has adjourned the matter until February 3, 2025, with Buksh remaining out on bail.
