A businessman, Nahroon Buksh, has denied allegations of fraud after appearing before Suva Magistrate Pulekeria Low. He is charged with obtaining financial advantage by deception, specifically accused of posing as a licensed real estate agent to sell a property in Kinoya that he did not own. It is alleged that Buksh obtained $6,000 from a couple genuinely interested in purchasing the property during an offense period extending from December 10, 2020, to August 23, 2021.

During the proceedings, prosecutor Lavenia Ravuikadavu outlined that the prosecution project 13 witnesses to testify, while the defense intends only to call Mr. Buksh. The prosecution also noted that there are partial admissions from a previous caution interview which the defense will not contest. A one-week trial has been proposed, with both parties submitting agreed facts regarding the case.

Buksh remains out on bail, with the court adjourning the case to February 3. This situation highlights the importance of integrity in real estate dealings and serves as a crucial reminder of the potential consequences tied to fraudulent activities in the business sector.

As this case develops, it will not only serve justice for Mr. Buksh but also reinforces the critical need for transparency and due diligence in all business transactions. The community remains hopeful for a resolution that can restore trust and accountability within the real estate market. Furthermore, this legal episode encourages awareness among consumers about the importance of verifying the credentials of individuals involved in property transactions to safeguard against potential fraud.
