Two men have been taken into custody after allegedly intimidating a bus attendant at the Nadi Bus station. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that the arrests occurred this morning.
According to ACP Driu, these individuals have a history of causing disruptions during bus journeys, frequently harassing both drivers and passengers. This behavior poses significant risks, not just to the safety of the bus drivers and those aboard, but also fosters an uncomfortable and stressful atmosphere for all involved.
He urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers who experience similar harassment to seek assistance at nearby police stations, community outposts, or checkpoints to report such incidents. ACP Driu emphasized the importance of vigilance within the community, encouraging everyone to look out for one another to ensure a safe and incident-free Christmas season.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to maintain public safety and illustrates the importance of community cooperation in tackling disruptive behavior. As the festive season approaches, the call for increased awareness and proactive reporting is a hopeful step towards ensuring a peaceful environment for all.
