Two men who allegedly intimidated a bus attendant at the Nadi Bus Station have been taken into police custody. The incident, which was widely circulated on Facebook, led to their arrest yesterday morning for causing a disturbance in a public space.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, remarked that these individuals have a history of troubling bus drivers and passengers, creating an unsafe and uncomfortable atmosphere. He emphasized that such behavior risks the safety of both drivers and commuters, making the travel experience less pleasant for everyone involved.
ACP Driu urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers who encounter similar issues to promptly report them at their nearest police station, Community Police Post, or checkpoints along their routes. He also encouraged the public to look out for each other to ensure a safe and incident-free holiday season.
In light of this situation, the police emphasize the importance of community vigilance during the festive period, reminding everyone that collective efforts can lead to a safer environment.
This incident serves as a reminder of the responsibility each individual has to foster a safe community, especially during busy times like the Christmas season. By remaining vigilant and reporting disturbances, citizens can help maintain a secure atmosphere for all.
