Two men have been apprehended by the police after they were caught on video intimidating a bus attendant at the Nadi Bus station, which subsequently went viral on social media. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed their arrest this morning, stating the men were charged with causing a nuisance in a public space.
ACP Driu highlighted that these individuals have a history of disrupting bus operations by harassing both drivers and passengers. He emphasized the seriousness of such behavior, noting that it not only compromises the safety of those on board but also contributes to an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone involved.
He urged public service vehicle (PSV) drivers who experience similar harassment to report such incidents at nearby police stations, community posts, or checkpoints along their routes. The Police Operations Chief stressed the importance of community vigilance and support in maintaining safety, particularly as the festive season approaches. He expressed hope that through collective efforts, the community can enjoy an incident-free Christmas.
The proactive approach taken by the police in addressing public disturbances is commendable, as it encourages a collaborative effort between law enforcement and the community to ensure a safer environment for all.
