Eighteen individuals received medical attention at Lautoka Aspen Hospital after a bus they were on was involved in a collision with a four-wheel drive vehicle in Lautoka yesterday afternoon. The accident occurred around 2:45 PM on King’s Road in Vitogo when the four-wheel drive pulled out from Vitogo Road and struck the Goundar Shipping bus, which was en route from Lautoka to Ba.
The impact caused the bus to overturn, ultimately landing on its side atop the four-wheel drive vehicle. The driver of the four-wheel drive was trapped but was safely rescued by officers from the National Fire Authority. The bus driver from Saweni suffered serious injuries but is currently in stable condition.
One passenger, Abdul Khalik Rahman, suffered multiple injuries, including four broken ribs. A family member, Aarish Rahman, shared that Abdul will undergo a CT scan and will be admitted for further treatment.
In the aftermath of the incident, a significant police presence was observed at the scene, and investigations into the collision are ongoing.
