Four men have been arrested and are currently in police custody following a burglary incident in Lakena, Nausori, on Monday afternoon. The police report that the suspects allegedly forcefully entered a private home that was also being used as a small canteen by the homeowner. During the break-in, cash and various items were reported stolen.

Acting quickly, police officers from the Eastern Division initiated an investigation, which led to a raid at a motel in Suva yesterday morning where all four suspects were apprehended. The operation yielded the recovery of the alleged stolen items as well as suspected tools that might have been used in the break-in.

As investigations continue, the suspects remain in custody. This incident is part of a larger concern regarding property security in the region, similar to past cases that have prompted law enforcement’s proactive measures to address such crimes.

In related news, in earlier cases from the Northern Division, a 29-year-old man was interrogated in connection with a series of burglaries occurring throughout June 2025, highlighting the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat property crime. Arrests similar to those concerning the men in Lakena are thought to reinforce community safety and reflect law enforcement’s commitment to bring justice to victims.

The swift response from police and the recovery of stolen items provide a sense of hope for community members, emphasizing the importance of collective vigilance and effective law enforcement in deterring crime. As investigations progress, the community looks to not only recover from this incident but to foster a safer environment for the future.
