The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, has urged property owners to enhance their security measures following a reported burglary at an estate in Taveuni last week.
Mr. Driu explained that K9 officers were promptly dispatched after receiving a report of a break-in at the estate, leading to the quick apprehension of a suspect. “Upon arriving at the scene, the K9 team tracked the suspect and managed to arrest him, retrieving items that were allegedly stolen,” he stated.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing. Mr. Driu noted that some incidents did not show any signs of forced entry, indicating that doors may have been left unlocked.
“We often overlook important security matters concerning our homes, which can lead to burglary incidents,” he warned.
