The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, has urged property owners to enhance their security measures following a reported burglary at an estate in Taveuni last week.

Mr. Driu explained that K9 officers were able to swiftly locate and apprehend a suspect after receiving a report of a break-in at the estate. A team of K9 officers was promptly deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the K9 team tracked the suspect and made an arrest, recovering items believed to be stolen,” Mr. Driu stated.

The suspect is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.

“Some incidents have shown no signs of forced entry, indicating that doors may have been left unlocked,” he continued. “At times, we neglect security measures for our homes, which can lead to increased burglary incidents.”
