Burger King Fiji has enhanced its collaboration with Fiji Rugby by becoming the associate sponsor of the Skipper XV in anticipation of their significant warm-up match against the Fijian Drua set for February 6. This match is expected to showcase elite provincial players from this year’s Skipper Cup, competing against the professional Drua team in a much-anticipated pre-season event.
As part of its sponsorship, Burger King Fiji will feature dual-sleeve branding on the Skipper XV jersey, underlining its dedication to nurturing local rugby talent. Kavinesh Reddy, the general manager of Burger King Fiji, expressed the importance of rugby to Fiji’s national identity, asserting the company’s commitment to supporting Fiji Rugby and the advancement of the sport at all levels.
Fiji Rugby Union CEO Koli Sewabu expressed gratitude for Burger King Fiji’s sustained support. He stated, “We are extremely grateful for Burger King Fiji’s ongoing commitment to Fiji Rugby and are proud to see them deepen that partnership by backing the Skipper XV for this historic match against the Fijian Drua.” He emphasized the significance of the Skipper Cup as the essence of domestic rugby in Fiji, noting that with partners like Burger King Fiji, the organization can enhance opportunities for players and provide outstanding events for fans.
This match will mark a notable occasion as it will be the first instance the Drua competes against a locally-selected team in an official pre-season game, setting the stage for an exciting clash in Fijian rugby history.
