Allegations of bullying have emerged once again at one of the country’s premier boys’ schools, raising serious concerns about student behavior. This controversy is part of a broader claim involving illicit drug use and abuse among students that surfaced on Facebook over the weekend.
Despite the lack of official comment from the management at QVS, notable alumni such as Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo, are advocating for an investigation into these serious allegations. A handwritten letter that was shared online detailed troubling claims of senior students coercing junior students, particularly kitchen staff, into stealing food and aiding in illegal activities such as drug use and monetary theft, as well as physical abuse.
Prime Minister Rabuka expressed confidence that the Minister for Education is aware of the situation and is working toward disciplinary action. He has urged the Ministry of Education to investigate how the school has managed its discipline, particularly in light of a no-tolerance policy toward corporal punishment.
