Former Fiji Bati international Marcelo Montoya is making a return to the Canterbury Bulldogs after signing a two-year contract. The 28-year-old comes back to his junior team after spending four seasons with the New Zealand Warriors, where he tallied 30 tries in 82 matches.

Montoya progressed through the Bulldogs’ ranks, participating in the Harold Matthews Cup and the National Youth Competition, before making his NRL debut in 2017. Bulldogs General Manager of Football, Phil Gould, expressed his satisfaction with Montoya’s return, stating, “It’s always pleasing to bring a local junior back home.” He added that Montoya’s passion and versatility in the backline, along with his experience, will enhance the team’s performance as he begins this new chapter with the Bulldogs.

In a separate development, the Gold Coast Titans have announced the signing of former Fiji Bati prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard for the 2025 season on a three-year deal. The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Titans, having played 221 NRL games for the Penrith Panthers and Parramatta Eels, along with representing the Blues and Kangaroos at the Origin and international levels.

Titans coach Des Hasler commented on Campbell-Gillard’s addition, noting, “It’s great to have Reagan join us in 2025. He’s a no-nonsense front rower with a high work rate and has been a mainstay in the NRL for the past decade.”
