Former Fiji Bati representative Marcelo Montoya is set to make a return to Belmore after signing a two-year contract with the Canterbury Bulldogs. The 28-year-old player comes back to his junior club following a successful four-season stint with the New Zealand Warriors, during which he scored 30 tries in 82 matches.
Montoya’s journey with Canterbury began in the junior ranks, where he progressed from the Harold Matthews Cup to the National Youth Competition, eventually debuting in the NRL in 2017. Bulldogs General Manager of Football Phil Gould expressed his excitement about Montoya’s return, stating, “It’s always pleasing to bring a local junior back home.”
Gould praised Montoya’s passion and versatility, highlighting his ability to enhance the squad as he embarks on this new chapter of his career with the Bulldogs.
In another development, the Gold Coast Titans have announced that former Fiji Bati prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard will be joining the team in 2025 on a three-year contract. The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience with 221 NRL games played at Penrith and Parramatta, along with representative honors with the Blues and Kangaroos.
Titans coach Des Hasler expressed enthusiasm about Campbell-Gillard’s addition, describing him as a hardworking front-row player who has been a fixture in the NRL for the last decade.
