Former Fiji Bati international Marcelo Montoya is making a return to the Canterbury Bulldogs after signing a two-year contract. The 28-year-old player rejoins his junior club following a successful four-season stint in New Zealand, where he scored 30 tries in 82 matches for the Warriors.
Montoya’s journey with Canterbury began in the Harold Matthews Cup and continued through the National Youth Competition, culminating in his NRL debut in 2017. Bulldogs General Manager of Football Phil Gould expressed satisfaction in bringing a local junior back to the club, stating, “Marcelo is very passionate in the way he conducts himself both on and off the field. His versatility in the backline and his experience will certainly complement our squad as he enters this next chapter of his career at the Bulldogs.”
In another development, the Gold Coast Titans have confirmed the signing of former Fiji Bati and seasoned prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard to a three-year deal starting in 2025. The 31-year-old arrives at the Titans with extensive experience, having played 221 NRL games for Penrith and Parramatta, and featuring in Origin and International competitions with the Blues and Kangaroos. Titans coach Des Hasler welcomed Campbell-Gillard, highlighting his work ethic and consistent presence in the NRL over the past decade.
