The ten contestants of the FMF Bula Festival are set to make their first public appearance for judging tonight at Koroivolu Park in Nadi. According to Bula Events Group director Alan Kumar, the festival features a series of events, including a private judging session and three public judging events scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Kumar noted a significant turnout for the festival, especially with numerous food stalls and displays attracting local visitors since the event began. “We’ve seen the turnout from Sunday. It’s growing, and we always anticipate that the first two days will be quiet. Even last night there was a huge turnout,” he commented.

The festivities continue with themed events this week, highlighting the festival’s vibrant culture. Tonight’s Bollywood Night is sponsored by Magic Land Rights and the High Commission of India, which expects the High Commissioner to be in attendance. Tomorrow’s program will feature a baby show at the Nadi Civic Centre, and that evening will showcase the main event, “Bogi ni iTaukei,” supported by Jacks of Fiji. Friday concludes with the LICI-sponsored “Nadi’s Got Talent” night, leading to the crowning ceremony on Saturday.

Among the contestants vying for the title of Miss Bula Queen are Shahista Singh representing Smugglers Cove, Laisani Kama from Tifa Jek Mudpool, Karalaini Tupou of PSG Electrical, Phoebe Wilson of Guard Force Fiji, Arieta Naqai from PSH Hospital, Alumeci Davu from LJSS, Anaisi Tavuinaulu of Nadi Town Council, Mele Chambers from Magic Land Ride Fiji, Grace Suvei representing Unique Rubber Stamp, and Oripa Naulago from Sharma Music.

The engaging atmosphere and community participation in this year’s Bula Festival reflect a resilient spirit following challenges faced in previous years, especially considering initiatives for social awareness and charity highlighted in past festivals. Such events foster unity and provide a platform for contestants to advocate for important social and community issues, reinforcing the significance of cultural festivals in promoting community solidarity.
