EXTRA Bula FC faced another frustrating outing as they were held to a 0-0 draw against South Island United on Tuesday evening at the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne, Australia. This result continues a trend of struggles for the team as they seek to find their form in the competition.
Head coach Stephane Auvray pointed to the team’s ongoing issues with execution and missed chances as significant barriers to securing crucial points. However, he also expressed optimism about their defensive improvement. “We know we are a solid side, and while we’ve conceded a few goals lately, in this game we didn’t, which is satisfying,” Auvray remarked.
Despite the lack of goals, the coach emphasized the importance of resilience and consistency. He noted that while they did not manage to claim victory, the team is on the right path, particularly in bolstering their defense. “Building from this, we just need to keep going and keep doing what we do,” he stated.
The match saw South Island United dominate the first half, but Bula FC began to find their rhythm as the game progressed. Unfortunately, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities in the closing stages. Nevertheless, Auvray remains confident in the team’s development, stating, “When I first got here, fitness was an issue, as were structure, discipline, and many other things. Now, they’re playing like a team that’s been together for the past two years, so it’s just a matter of time before we become efficient.”
Looking ahead, Bula FC will face Tahiti United led by Tevita Waranivalu next Sunday in what marks their first game of circuit four of the OFC Pro League at the National Sports Stadium in the Solomon Islands. With a focused approach and ongoing improvements, the team is determined to find their winning edge in the upcoming matches.
