Bula FC is currently engaged in a rigorous two-week training camp at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba, gearing up for the inaugural OFC Professional League, which is set to commence in January. Head coach Stephane Auvray has outlined the team’s priorities, focusing on establishing a solid foundation in both athleticism and technical abilities essential for competing at the professional level.

The training regimen includes two intensive sessions per day, with a strong emphasis on building endurance. Auvray has pointed out that developing stamina is vital for players to maintain competitiveness within the OFC Pro-League. The demanding nature of the training has left several players feeling physically challenged. “They are adapting, they are tired. They are not used to this kind of work rhythm; the running is quite painful for them,” he remarked.

Despite the challenges, Auvray has sought to communicate the significance of these efforts to his players, emphasizing that their hard work will be beneficial throughout the long season ahead. He stated, “By the time February and March come, we should have built strong endurance with the ability to repeat efforts, which is really important for us.”

In addition to physical fitness, Auvray highlighted the necessity of fostering a new culture and mindset as the team transitions into professional play, requiring players to elevate their standards consistently. He has expressed admiration for the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by his squad, even as they navigate the intensity of training with a few reminders from the coaching staff.

Bula FC is set to kick off their campaign against United FC of Vanuatu in the opening match of the OFC Pro League on January 17, which will be held at Eden Park. This preparation reflects the team’s dedication to making a strong impact in their inaugural season at the professional level, instilling hope for a competitive future.
