Extra Supermarket Bula FC has addressed social media rumors regarding the off-loading of players from their flight to Papua New Guinea, clarifying that the situation was due to visa processing delays rather than any mismanagement. The claims suggested that four overseas players were removed from the flight because they failed to secure the necessary Papua New Guinea e-visas prior to departure.
Anushil Kumar, Bula FC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, confirmed to FBC Sports that the allegations were unfounded. “No players were off-loaded from the flight. Four of our overseas players did not travel yesterday simply because their visas had not arrived at that time. We took them to the airport in the hope that the visas would come through before departure, but unfortunately, they did not,” he stated.
Kumar elaborated that while some players and officials were able to travel as planned after receiving their visas, a small group experienced delays in the approval process. He reassured that all four visas have since been processed successfully, allowing the players to travel to Port Moresby the following afternoon in preparation for the club’s Round Two OFC Pro League match on Sunday.
“I can confirm that all four visas are now approved, and the players will join the team tomorrow,” Kumar added. He also noted that Bula FC was not alone in facing visa-related challenges, as Vanuatu United encountered similar issues with their players and officials unable to leave Nadi.
Despite this travel hurdle, Kumar mentioned that the team remains focused and settled, engaging in training while preparing for their important match in Papua New Guinea. This demonstrates the resilience and determination of Bula FC as they look to overcome obstacles and achieve success in the league.
