Bula FC’s Semi Nabenu has shared his optimism regarding the squad’s growing chemistry as they prepare for their inaugural season in the OFC Pro League. The players are settling into camp swiftly, which lays a solid foundation for their upcoming campaign.
Nabenu noted the effective mix of local talent and international players, enhanced by the presence of familiar teammates from his previous experiences with the Under-23 team and the Fijian national squad. This familiarity has made the transition back into the team feel natural for him.
“It feels normal coming back — everyone feels like part of the team and we’re gelling really well,” he expressed, emphasizing the strong rapport forming among the players.
In addition to striving for success on the field, Nabenu highlighted his personal goal of re-engaging fans with football. He stressed the importance of cultivating excitement around Fiji’s professional football landscape.
“We want to win games, but for me it’s also about getting supporters back around football, making it fun and giving people a reason to be there,” he stated, underlining his commitment to building a vibrant community around the sport.
As Bula FC ramps up their preparations, Nabenu’s focus on teamwork and fan engagement showcases a broader initiative to strengthen ties with the local football community. The team is set to face Vanuatu in their opening match next Saturday in Auckland, marking an important milestone for Bula FC as they endeavor to establish themselves in the league. This exciting venture not only promises a competitive season but also aims to revitalize the connection between football in Fiji and its passionate supporters.
