BULA FC’s head coach, Stephane Auvray, has underscored the importance of professionalism and a strong team culture as essential foundations for the club as they gear up for the upcoming OFC Pro League set to start in January. As overseas-based players join the squad, Auvray has been impressed by their smooth integration with local talent.
He noted, “Yes, they were all welcomed, I wanted them to bring in that professionalism that we’re getting which they are doing.” The integration of these players is particularly crucial, given the elevated expectations on them, and Auvray has emphasized the need for them to adapt to the existing team culture to facilitate a smoother transition.
“There’s obviously a thin line for them of being demanding and adapting to the culture as we are getting ourselves ready for professional football,” Auvray shared, highlighting the delicate balance the international players must navigate. He believes the training camp provides a valuable opportunity for players to gain firsthand experience of the demands associated with professional football.
With many players on the roster preparing for their first professional league experience, the coaching staff’s focus has primarily been on enhancing endurance, building athletic skills, and nurturing technical abilities. This approach is designed to ensure that the players are well-prepared for the pace and intensity of the Pro League.
Currently, the team is engaged in an intensive two-week training camp at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba, which will conclude just before the holiday season. After a break for Christmas, the training regimen will resume and continue until the onset of the OFC Professional League in January. As the team continues to prepare, there is great optimism surrounding their potential performance in the league, fostering hopes for a strong showing in the upcoming season.
