The Hydro Bukuya rugby sevens team achieved a remarkable success by clinching the Bowl Final at the Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers Vatulele 7s, defeating Saint John Lomary with a close score of 15-12 at the Vatulele District School ground. Despite facing significant challenges, such as a lack of proper training equipment and absence of local supporters, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination.
Team manager Vereti Malasebe expressed gratitude for their victory and attributed their success to their faith, stating that it was a challenge to train without adequate resources. The team used only a limited set of equipment, including a few cones and rugby balls, while noting that other teams were better equipped.
Looking forward, the Hydro Bukuya team is optimistic about participating in upcoming tournaments, including the Coral Coast 7s in the new year, showcasing their desire to continue competing at a high level.
This story serves as an inspiring reminder that dedication, teamwork, and belief can lead to triumph, even in the face of adversity. It highlights the importance of community support and the joy of competing, encouraging other teams to pursue their goals regardless of the obstacles they may face.
