Professor Biman Prasad, the leader of the National Federation Party, has recognized Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for his friendship and fairness during a special tribute at the Party Convention held in Sigatoka today. He expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s continuous support during his personal challenges in government.
Prasad highlighted that this form of leadership is promising for the future of both the government and the nation as they strive to improve the country. He noted that the bond of solidarity and support that exists between them dates back to before they entered government and will likely endure for a long time.
Acknowledging the challenges of working within a coalition, Prasad pointed out that there are notable disagreements among the three parties involved, sometimes voiced publicly. He stated that such differences are expected due to the various motivations for being in politics and the diverse priorities represented.
He emphasized that despite public disagreements, there exists a foundation of mutual respect among the coalition partners, as they are committed democrats. Prasad asserted that they do not shy away from expressing their views and can engage in healthy debates as mature individuals.
Lastly, he remarked on the importance of respecting each other’s opinions in a coalition government, as respect fosters trust. He noted that after years of a government characterized by distrust, their current coalition is focused on rebuilding that trust within the country.
