“Building Trust: A Tribute to Leadership in Coalition Politics”

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, highlighting his friendship and fairness during a speech at the Party Convention in Sigatoka. Prasad noted that the Prime Minister has consistently supported him during personal challenges faced in the government.

He remarked, “This is leadership that bodes well for the future of both our Government and our country as we work to improve our Government and our country.” Prasad acknowledged the solidarity and support that has existed since before they took office together, emphasizing its potential for longevity.

Addressing the complexities of working within a coalition, Prasad recognized that the three parties often have differing opinions, which may sometimes lead to public disagreements. He stated, “We expect that. We are all in politics for different reasons. We represent different people with different priorities.”

Despite the challenges, he stressed the importance of respect among coalition members. “We do not hide our views from each other or the people. Like mature adults, we can differ with each other and do so with mutual respect.” He concluded by underscoring the importance of respect in politics, stating, “Respect builds trust. And after years of living under a government that trusted nobody, we are rebuilding trust in our country.”
