Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada, Ra, has turned her small craft business in Bulileka, Labasa into a promising venture. She started her business last year and has witnessed significant support from her community and family, which has greatly motivated her.

Fulori was educated at Nasinu Secondary School and participated in various entrepreneurship programs, although initially, she did not aspire to start a business of her own. However, she has since adopted a proactive approach to learning about entrepreneurship and is now determined to grow her business.

Her creations, primarily made from masi (a traditional Fijian bark cloth), are sold locally, and there is a growing market for her products. The popularity of her offerings is evident as many customers prefer to buy from her due to the unique colors and designs.

Currently, Fulori receives orders from several hotels, including Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa, and has even shipped orders as far as Nausori. She noted that the holiday season has significantly increased the demand for her products, leading to a busy period for her business.

Fulori sells her craft items for around $5 each, and she has set her sights on expanding her business into other areas of handicrafts, such as weaving and sewing. She aims to produce 20 items daily, with potential weekly earnings between $200 and $400, particularly during busy periods.

Her story emphasizes the positive impact small businesses can have on families and communities. Fulori encourages her peers to utilize their talents effectively to improve their quality of life and stresses the importance of faith as a guiding force in her entrepreneurial journey.

By supporting local artisans like Fulori, communities can foster economic growth and cultural preservation, creating a brighter future for all involved.
