This win places Bua in a favorable position as they now only require a draw in the upcoming return leg in Viti Levu to guarantee their promotion. On the other hand, Tavua must win the return match by at least two clear goals to keep their hopes alive. The Tavua team is led by experienced players Malakai Tiwa and Josaia Ratu. The decisive return leg is set to take place at Garvey Park in Tavua next week.
In other football news, the 2024 Digicel Fiji Girls under-16 League was held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, featuring teams from Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Navua, Northland Tailevu, Tailevu Naitasiri, and Lami. In the opening match, Suva and Nasinu ended in a 1-1 draw, showcasing the skills of the young players to their parents and fans. Rewa then faced Navua, managing to secure a 1-0 victory.
