Bua on the Brink of Premier League Promotion!

The Bua football team has taken an important step toward promotion to the Digicel Premier League next year. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Tavua in the first playoff match held at Subrail Park in Labasa. This win places Bua in a favorable position as they aim for promotion.

To guarantee their spot in the top league, Bua only needs to achieve a draw in the upcoming return leg in Viti Levu next week. Conversely, Tavua must win the match by at least two clear goals to advance.

Tavua is led by experienced players Malakai Tiwa and Josaia Ratu as they prepare for the critical return match, set to take place at Garvey Park in Tavua next week.

In other football news, the 2024 Digicel Fiji Girls under-16 League was held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, featuring teams from Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Navua, Northland Tailevu, Tailevu Naitasiri, and Lami. Suva and Nasinu ended their match in a 1-1 draw, showcasing the talents of the young players in front of their supporters.

Rewa faced off against Navua, with Rewa emerging victorious with a 1-0 win. The match between Northland Tailevu and Tailevu Naitasiri concluded without any goals scored.

In the top league, five matches are scheduled in the DFPL competition today. Navua will host Nasinu at the Uprising Sports Complex at 2 pm, while Nadroga takes on Tailevu Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park simultaneously. Three more matches are set to kick off at 3 pm, including Ba against Labasa at Govind Park, Lautoka hosting Suva at Subrail Park, and Nadi facing Rewa at Prince Charles Park. Rewa is seeking a draw today to clinch the Digicel Fiji Premier League title for the second time, their first being in 2022.
