Bua on the Brink of Premier League Promotion

The Bua football team has taken a significant step toward promotion to the Digicel Premier League next year. In a thrilling playoff match held at Subrail Park in Labasa, Bua narrowly defeated Tavua 1-0.

This victory places Bua in a strong position, as they now require only a draw in the upcoming return match in Viti Levu next week to secure their promotion. Conversely, Tavua must win the next match by at least two goals to advance. The veteran players Malakai Tiwa and Josaia Ratu will be crucial for Tavua as they prepare for the challenge. The return leg is set to take place at Garvey Park in Tavua next week.

In other football news, the 2024 Digicel Fiji Girls Under-16 League occurred yesterday at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, featuring teams from Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Navua, Northland Tailevu, Tailevu Naitasiri, and Lami. In one of the matches, Suva and Nasinu played to a 1-1 draw, showcasing impressive skills in front of parents and supporters. Rewa faced Navua next and secured a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, Northland Tailevu and Tailevu Naitasiri ended their match in a goalless draw.

Looking ahead to the top league, five matches are scheduled in the DFPL competition today. Navua will host Nasinu at Uprising Sports Complex at 2 PM, while Nadroga will face Tailevu Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park at the same time. Three additional matches are set to begin at 3 PM: Ba will challenge Labasa at Govind Park, Lautoka will take on Suva at Subrail Park, and Nadi will compete against Rewa at Prince Charles Park. Rewa will need at least a draw to clinch the Digicel Fiji Premier League title, which would mark their second national league title, the first being achieved in 2022.
