The Bua football team has taken a significant step towards promoting to the Digicel Premier League for next year. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Tavua in the first playoff match held at Subrail Park, Labasa. This win places Bua in a favorable position to achieve promotion, as they now require only a draw in the upcoming return leg on Viti Levu next week to secure their spot.

On the other hand, Tavua must win the return match by at least two goals to advance. The team relies on veteran players Malakai Tiwa and Josaia Ratu for their performance. The return leg is set to take place at Garvey Park in Tavua next week.

In another event, the 2024 Digicel Fiji Girls under-16 League was held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, featuring teams from Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Navua, Northland Tailevu, Tailevu Naitasiri, and Lami. Suva and Nasinu played to a 1-1 draw, showcasing their talents before parents and supporters. Rewa then faced Navua, winning the match 1-0, while the encounter between Northland Tailevu and Tailevu Naitasiri ended in a goalless draw.

In the top league, five matches are scheduled for the DFPL competition today. At 2 pm, Navua will host Nasinu at the Uprising Sports Complex, and Nadroga will play against Tailevu Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park simultaneously. Three additional matches are slated to begin at 3 pm, with Ba taking on Labasa at Govind Park, Lautoka facing Suva at Subrail Park, and Nadi competing against Rewa at Prince Charles Park. Rewa aims for a draw to clinch the Digicel Fiji Premier League title, which would mark their second national league title, the first being in 2022.
