Bua Eyes Premier League Promotion After Narrow Victory

The Bua football team is on track for promotion to the Digicel Premier League next year after a narrow 1-0 victory over Tavua in the first playoff match at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday. This result places Bua in a favorable position, requiring only a draw in the upcoming return leg in Viti Levu next week to secure their promotion.

Tavua, on the other hand, must win the second match by at least two clear goals to remain in contention. The team will rely on experienced players Malakai Tiwa and Josaia Ratu for leadership. The second match is scheduled to take place at Garvey Park in Tavua next week.

In a separate event, the 2024 Digicel Fiji Girls under-16 League was held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, featuring teams from Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Navua, Northland Tailevu, Tailevu Naitasiri, and Lami. In the matches, Suva and Nasinu ended in a 1-1 draw, with teams displaying their talents to an enthusiastic crowd. Rewa triumphed over Navua with a score of 1-0, while the match between Northland Tailevu and Tailevu Naitasiri concluded without any goals.

Today, five matches are set to take place in the Digicel Fiji Premier League. Navua will face Nasinu at the Uprising Sports Complex at 2 PM, while Nadroga takes on Tailevu Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park at the same time. Three additional matches are scheduled for 3 PM, with Ba competing against Labasa at Govind Park, Lautoka hosting Suva at Subrail Park, and Nadi challenging Rewa at Prince Charles Park. Rewa is looking for a draw to clinch the Digicel Fiji Premier League title today. If successful, this would mark their second national league title, the first being in 2022.
