BSP’s New GM: A Strategic Move for Pacific Market Growth

The Bank South Pacific Financial Group (BSP) has appointed Paul Black as the new general manager for its Pacific market operations. Mr. Black brings over 35 years of experience in retail and corporate banking to this role.

Before joining BSP in 2011, he spent more than 22 years at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he held numerous senior leadership positions. Since 2015, he has served as deputy general manager of corporate banking and has also been involved in supporting the Pacific markets, managing teams in Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.

BSP noted that Mr. Black possesses specialized skills in corporate lending, credit risk mitigation, and negotiation, along with strong leadership qualities. He is a member of FINSA and is currently pursuing his MBA with the Australian Institute of Business.

Mark Robinson, the chief executive officer of BSP Group, expressed confidence in Mr. Black’s leadership, highlighting his familiarity with the South Pacific region where the bank operates.

Mr. Black’s appointment is part of a broader executive leadership restructuring aimed at supporting the bank’s modernization and growth strategies. This change was announced on Wednesday through the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and the Port Moresby Exchange (PNGX).
