BSP Financial Group (Fiji) Pte Ltd (BSP) has successfully completed its latest initiative aimed at improving community welfare by refurbishing the Valelevu HART Nursing Home. This project was undertaken to create a safer and more comfortable living environment for the elderly residents, many of whom previously experienced discomfort due to the facility’s state of disrepair.
The renovations were prompted by the urgent need for improvements within the home. Recognizing this, BSP’s Corporate and Business Banking team took charge of the reparation works, with many staff members volunteering their time and effort to ensure the project’s success. During the official handover, BSP’s general manager for Corporate and Business Banking, Maikash Ali, emphasized the bank’s core value of contributing positively to the community.
“Every year, we dedicate funds for staff-led projects such as these, where our staff actively volunteer their time to work on projects that make a real difference to our community,” Ali explained. The renovation efforts encompassed the complete refurbishment of an entire wing, including tiling the floors, repainting the interior and exterior walls, and fixing broken amenities. To enhance the security of the elderly residents, security grills were installed on the windows and solar lighting was added.
Reflecting on the importance of such facilities, Ali remarked, “These residents once contributed to our nation’s growth and now, in their twilight years, they deserve to live in a secure and comfortable environment.”
Paserio Furivai, the CEO of HART, expressed gratitude for BSP’s long-standing partnership, noting that the bank not only funds projects but also encourages its employees to engage personally, which illustrates their commitment to community welfare. “The new look of the nursing home is brighter, safer, and more conducive to the well-being of our elderly residents,” he added.
Currently, the Valelevu HART Nursing Home houses 26 senior citizens, many of whom have lost connections with their families. HART’s mission remains to provide hope, dignity, and care to those in need, alongside partners like BSP who contribute significantly towards these goals.
BSP has a history of supporting various community initiatives, having previously funded the Vesivesi HART Kindergarten to facilitate early childhood education and having recently improved the Wainibuku HART Primary School by enhancing its playground and facilities.
This ongoing investment in community welfare highlights the positive impact BSP continues to have on Fijian society, reinforcing its dedication to making meaningful changes that benefit the most vulnerable. The collaborative efforts of BSP staff and HART truly embody the spirit of community service and the belief that every small action can lead to significant positive transformations.
In summary, BSP’s recent refurbishment project at the Valelevu HART Nursing Home not only improved living conditions but also restored dignity and safety for the elderly residents, demonstrating a commitment to social responsibility that resonates throughout the community.
