BSP Life, a prominent life and health insurance provider, has made significant senior leadership appointments, underscoring its commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. The company announced three internal promotions, reflecting the high caliber of expertise within its ranks.
Munendra Naidu has been elevated to the newly established role of Chief Actuarial and Data Officer. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, Naidu will spearhead the Actuarial and Data Analytics team, focusing on strategic outcomes using advanced actuarial methods. He also played a key role in steering BSP Life through the complexities of the IFRS17 accounting standard, emphasizing compliance and reporting. Notably, Naidu is the only locally qualified actuary in Fiji, having obtained his credentials from the Institute of Actuaries in the UK and Macquarie University in Australia.
George Kotobalavu has been appointed as the General Manager for Distribution and Marketing, following the retirement of Curtis Mar. Kotobalavu, who brings 27 years of experience, will oversee the distribution and marketing division, supporting BSP Life’s growth trajectory.
The new Chief Financial Officer, Bhavin Marvadi, succeeds Naidu in the finance department after previously serving as the financial controller. Marvadi’s background includes critical roles at PwC Fiji and British American Tobacco, highlighting his extensive experience in finance, particularly during the implementation of the IFRS17 standard.
Managing Director Michael Nacola congratulated the leaders on their promotions, expressing confidence in their ability to enhance BSP Life’s contribution to policyholders and support national economic development. Nacola highlighted that these promotions illustrate the effectiveness of BSP Life’s internal succession plans, showcasing the potential of local talent in senior roles.
This strategic move within BSP Life not only strengthens its leadership team but also signifies a broader trend in Fiji’s corporate landscape, wherein local professionals are increasingly stepping into pivotal roles, contributing to both organizational effectiveness and national growth. This optimistic development reflects a commitment to local talent and governance, promising a positive trajectory for the future.
