The ACT Brumbies have officially announced their squad for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, aiming to build on their recent semi-final success. A significant aspect of their roster is the retention of 30 players from last season, blending experienced athletes with emerging talents.
Among the squad are seven Wallabies who recently triumphed over England, including Nick Frost, Rob Valetini, Noah Lolesio, Len Ikitau, Tom Wright, Alaalatoa, and James Slipper. These players were instrumental in the match, with Wright scoring his seventh Test try and Lolesio contributing 13 points. Notably, Valetini earned the John Eales Medal, becoming only the third player to win the honor in consecutive years.
The Brumbies have also introduced six new members for the 2025 season, made up of two signings and four graduates from the Elite Development squad. Tuaina Taii Tualima and David Feliuai have joined from the Melbourne Rebels, while Kadin Pritchard, Shane Wilcox, Lachlan Hooper, and Tevita Alatini have stepped up from the Academy ranks. Both Tualima and Feliuai began pre-season training with the team earlier this week.
Head coach Stephen Larkham expressed excitement about the squad’s composition, highlighting the importance of continuity while also looking forward to the potential contributions of new players and young talent. He emphasized the positive atmosphere surrounding the club as they prepare for their upcoming games, beginning with their first match against Fijian Drua in Suva in February.
Players from the Elite Development Squad are particularly noteworthy, including prop Alatini, Hooper, Pritchard, and Wilcox, who have all made strides to the first team. Wilcox recently led the ACT Brumbies U19s to consecutive Super Rugby U19 Championships, while Pritchard and Hooper showcased their skills at the Australian U20s Championship.
The Brumbies are set to kick off their season on February 15 against Fijian Drua, followed by a home match against the Western Force on February 22.
In summary, the ACT Brumbies are not only focusing on maintaining their competitive edge but also fostering a culture of growth through the inclusion of young talent, setting a promising tone for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.
