The ACT Brumbies have announced their roster for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, seeking to build on their successful semi-final run last year. The squad features 30 returning players, combining seasoned athletes with promising young talent.
Notably, the squad includes seven members of the Wallabies who recently triumphed over England 42-37 at Twickenham. Among these players are Nick Frost, Rob Valetini, Noah Lolesio, Len Ikitau, Tom Wright, Alaalatoa, and James Slipper, all of whom played pivotal roles in the victory. Valetini was recognized as the 2024 Wallabies Player of the Year, solidifying his standing within the team.
The Brumbies are also welcoming six newcomers for the upcoming season, which includes two fresh signings and four Academy graduates. Tuaina Taii Tualima and David Feliuai join from the Melbourne Rebels, while Kadin Pritchard, Shane Wilcox, Lachlan Hooper, and Tevita Alatini move up from the Elite Development Squad.
Head coach Stephen Larkham expressed his satisfaction with the squad’s composition, emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuity while also embracing new talent. He highlighted the positive atmosphere during pre-season training and expressed eagerness for the first match against Fijian Drua in Suva on February 15, 2025.
The new signings bring valuable experience to the squad: Tualima is a versatile forward with 34 Super Rugby appearances, and Feliuai made his debut last season after gaining international experience playing in Romania.
The promotion of young talents such as Wilcox, Pritchard, Hooper, and Alatini from the Elite Development Squad showcases the Brumbies’ successful player pathways. Wilcox recently led the U19 team to back-to-back championships, while Pritchard and Hooper also shined at the national level.
As the Brumbies prepare for the upcoming season, there is a palpable excitement about the potential and talent within the squad. With a strong combination of experienced players and enthusiastic newcomers, fans can look forward to an engaging and competitive season ahead.
Overall, the ACT Brumbies’ commitment to nurturing young talent while bolstering their ranks with key signings sets a hopeful tone for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.
