The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies have officially announced their squad for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, aiming to build on their success from last year’s semi-final appearance. The club proudly retains 30 members of the previous season’s roster, combining experienced players with emerging talent.
Seven of the Brumbies have been called up to the Wallabies team after their recent exhilarating victory over England at Twickenham. This impressive lineup includes Nick Frost, Rob Valetini, Noah Lolesio, Len Ikitau, Tom Wright, Alaalatoa, and James Slipper. Each player played a crucial role in this match, showcasing their skills and cementing their place in both the Brumbies and the national team. Valetini’s achievement as the only third player to win back-to-back John Eales Medals demonstrates the strength of the squad.
In addition to the returning players, the Brumbies have welcomed six new members for the upcoming season: two new signings from the Melbourne Rebels, Tuaina Taii Tualima and David Feliuai, along with four Academy graduates promoted from the Elite Development squad—Kadin Pritchard, Shane Wilcox, Lachlan Hooper, and Tevita Alatini. Coach Stephen Larkham expressed his enthusiasm regarding the blend of continuity and fresh talent, highlighting the positive atmosphere during pre-season training.
Tualima, known for his versatility and ball-carrying abilities, brings significant experience to the Brumbies, having previously played for the Queensland Reds and the Rebels. Feliuai, also a strong ball carrier, made a notable impact in his Super Rugby debut last year after a stint in Romania. The promotion of the four Academy graduates underscores the Brumbies’ commitment to nurturing homegrown talents, with Wilcox recently leading the U19s to championship success.
The Brumbies are set to open their 2025 season against Fijian Drua in Suva on February 15, followed by a home game against the Western Force on February 22. With a solid blend of experience and youth, there is a palpable sense of excitement around the squad’s potential for success in the upcoming season.
In summary, the ACT Brumbies’ 2025 Super Rugby Pacific squad showcases a promising combination of seasoned players and fresh talent, emphasizing the club’s strength in developing young athletes. With a robust pre-season behind them and the first match on the horizon, there is optimism for a successful campaign ahead.
