The motto “I’m my brother’s keeper” serves as a unifying principle for students at Marist Brothers High School. This camaraderie was on display when the school donated gear kits to the Nasinu under-18 rugby team as they prepare for their semi-final match against Cuvu College.
Although Marist’s own season concluded in the Deans quarter-finals against the reigning champions, Queen Victoria School, the students demonstrated their support by providing wraps and Fiji water bottles to the Nasinu team.
Principal Asish Dayal highlighted the school’s backing for the Nasinu first XV team, stressing the significance of bonding and mutual support in Southern Zone rugby. He noted that the essence of rugby extends beyond the field, encompassing off-field solidarity and friendship.
Dayal stated, “We are here to support our Nasinu first XV team, in solidarity as Southern Zone rugby. While we are fierce rivals on the field, our journey has come to an end, but we stand by Nasinu, embodying our motto ‘I’m my brother’s keeper’. Rugby is about what happens both on and off the field.”
The Marist team extended their best wishes to Nasinu as they gear up for their critical match. In response, Nasinu Secondary’s vice principal, Navitalai Waiwalu, expressed sincere appreciation for the generous contribution from Marist Brothers High School, acknowledging it as a meaningful gesture of support from fellow rugby players.
