Fiji Beach Soccer Captain and goalkeeper Sanaila Waqanicakau is excited to reunite with his younger brother, Junior Balbir Singh, as they prepare to play together this season at Tavua FC. Waqanicakau successfully secured his release from Nasinu during the preseason transfer window, allowing him to join Singh, who was a key player in Tavua’s promotion to the top league last year.

This reunion is particularly special since the brothers last played together five seasons ago while representing their hometown club, Ba. They are part of a talented family, which also includes Saula Waqa, another sibling who currently plays as a striker for Lautoka. This familial connection highlights the significant sporting legacy within the Waqanicakau family.

Sanaila Waqanicakau brings a wealth of experience to Tavua. Not only is he a skilled goalkeeper, but he also has a history as a striker, having represented Fiji at various levels, including the U20 team, along with stints at clubs such as Rewa, Dreketi, and Suva. His versatile skill set is expected to enhance Tavua’s squad depth significantly this season. Additionally, he continues to serve as a Goalkeeping Coach for the Fiji Football Association, demonstrating his dedication to the development of the sport.

Fans are hopeful that this reunion will not only strengthen Tavua’s performance on the field but also showcase the strong familial bonds that underpin much of Fijian football. The Waqanicakau brothers’ collaboration is anticipated to bring thrilling matches and inspire both teammates and aspiring athletes alike, as they embark on this new chapter of their football journey together. With their combined talents, Tavua FC looks forward to a promising season ahead filled with potential successes.
