Fiji Beach Soccer Captain and goalkeeper Sanaila Waqanicakau is set to reunite with his younger brother, Junior Balbir Singh, this season as he transitions to Tavua FC from Nasinu. The move, made during the preseason transfer window, allows Waqanicakau to play alongside Singh, who played a pivotal role in Tavua’s promotion to the top league last year.

This reunion is particularly special as the brothers last shared the field five seasons ago while representing their hometown club, Ba. A notable family connection exists in sports, with another sibling, Saula Waqa, also making his mark as a striker for Lautoka.

Waqanicakau brings a wealth of experience to Tavua. He not only excels as a goalkeeper but has also played as a striker, having represented Fiji at multiple levels, including the U20 team, as well as clubs like Rewa, Dreketi, and Suva. His addition is anticipated to significantly enhance Tavua’s squad depth.

In addition to his playing role, Waqanicakau serves as a Goalkeeping Coach for the Fiji Football Association, emphasizing his commitment to nurturing future talent in the sport. The brothers’ reunion is seen as a heartwarming development for fans, symbolizing a strong family bond and shared ambitions as they embark on their new football journey together this season.

With Sanaila’s experience and leadership, Tavua is looking to have an exciting season ahead, and fans are filled with hope for the potential success that awaits them. The brothers’ collaboration on the field promises to bring thrilling matches and elevate the team’s performance in the league.
