Brother International Partners with Pacific Brothers for Fiji Growth

Brother International (NZ) Ltd has appointed Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its new official distributor in Fiji, marking over two decades of investment in the local market. This decision aims to broaden Brother’s product offerings and enhance growth, particularly in the business-to-business sector, by collaborating with a distributor that deeply understands and addresses the needs of Fijian customers.

Pacific Brothers brings a wealth of experience in the printing industry, emphasizing customer service and support. This includes implementing 24/7 assistance for users across Fiji, with a notable 80% of issues resolved remotely to ensure customer satisfaction.

Additionally, Pacific Brothers plans to allocate 10 percent of its profits towards combatting child poverty and improving education in the region. Both Brother and Pacific Brothers are committed to establishing a nationwide network of local Technical Service Providers to enhance the customer experience with Brother’s products.

Former Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) Ltd, Graham Walshe, highlighted the company’s goal of achieving financial sustainability through positive cash flow and retained earnings across Fiji and the Pacific. He stated the importance of governance and accountability, expressing a desire to contribute positively to the community through fair tax practices and rewarding partnerships that facilitate profit generation.

Walshe emphasized that purchases of Brother products will be made through more than ten local partners rather than directly from Pacific Brothers. He indicated that Fiji will serve as a central hub for sales and support in the Pacific, generating employment and establishing itself as a centre of excellence.

Sustainability is a key element of this initiative, with Brother and Pacific Brothers enhancing recycling programs and investing in local sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts.

Murray McCully, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade for New Zealand and now Director of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, remarked that for the Pacific to thrive, Fiji must be its central hub. He emphasized the significance of a robust Pacific economy to New Zealand’s geopolitical interests and praised Brother for its commitment to environmental and social responsibility through tangible projects.

McCully noted Brother’s global presence and values, commending its decision to reinvest 10% of after-tax profits back into the community. He also highlighted the company’s leadership in environmental sustainability with a four-year buyback program, expressing gratitude for the partnership and the relationships fostered in Fiji.
