Brother International Expands in Fiji with New Strategic Partnership

Brother International (NZ) Ltd has announced the appointment of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its new official distributor for Fiji, marking over two decades of investment in the Fijian market. This strategic partnership aims to broaden Brother’s product offerings and stimulate growth, particularly in the business-to-business sector, by collaborating with a distributor well-versed in the local market.

Pacific Brothers boasts extensive experience in the printing industry, prioritizing customer service and support. Notably, the company will introduce 24/7 support for users throughout Fiji, emphasizing customer satisfaction with an impressive 80% of issues resolved remotely.

In addition, Pacific Brothers plans to allocate 10 percent of its profits toward child poverty alleviation and education. Together with Brother, they are working to establish a nationwide network of local Technical Service Providers to enhance customer experiences with Brother products.

Graham Walshe, former Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) Ltd, highlighted the company’s commitment to financial sustainability, aiming for positive cash flow and retained earnings in the Pacific. He stressed the importance of governance and accountability, expressing a desire to contribute to the local community and maintain fair tax practices. Walshe indicated that purchases of Brother products will be made through local partners rather than direct sales to end users.

Fiji is poised to become a sales and support hub for the Pacific, creating jobs and serving as a center of excellence. Brother and Pacific Brothers are also focusing on sustainability, expanding recycling initiatives, and supporting local corporate social responsibility projects.

Murray McCully, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade for New Zealand and current Director of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, emphasized the necessity of having a strong Fiji hub for the success of the Pacific. He underscored the significance of a robust Pacific economy for New Zealand’s broader geopolitical interests. McCully commended Brother’s proactive stance on environmental and social responsibility, noting the company’s commitment to investing in meaningful projects.

He praised Brother as a reputable Japanese company known for its positive corporate culture and dedication to international citizenship, particularly highlighting the allocation of 10% of after-tax profits to support the community in need. McCully also acknowledged Brother’s leadership in environmental sustainability initiatives, including a four-year buyback arrangement, and expressed gratitude for the partnership and relationships forged in Fiji.
