Brother International Expands Footprint in Fiji with New Distributor Partnership

Brother International (NZ) Ltd has named Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its official distributor for Fiji, marking a significant investment in the Fijian market that has spanned over two decades. This partnership is designed to enhance the product offerings and foster growth, especially in the business-to-business sector, by collaborating with a distributor knowledgeable about the local market.

Pacific Brothers brings a wealth of expertise in the printing industry and is committed to superior customer service and support. The company plans to introduce 24/7 assistance for all users across Fiji, focusing on customer satisfaction and effective remote support, which has achieved an 80% success rate in resolving issues remotely. Furthermore, they aim to allocate 10% of their profits to initiatives aimed at alleviating child poverty and enhancing education.

Both Brother and Pacific Brothers are dedicated to establishing a comprehensive nationwide network of local Technical Service Providers. This initiative aims to ensure that customers have an optimal experience with Brother products.

Graham Walshe, former Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) Ltd, emphasized the importance of financial sustainability, expressing the company’s goal to achieve growth through positive cash flow and retained earnings in Fiji and the broader Pacific region. He stated, “We want to be perceived as a reliable corporate citizen, paying our fair share of taxes and rewarding our partners to ensure mutual profitability.”

Walshe confirmed that the Pacific Brothers Distributor operates as a channel model with over ten local partners where customers can purchase Brother products. He stressed that the company will not engage in direct sales to end-users.

He also shared that Fiji will act as a vital sales and support hub for the Pacific, aiming to create jobs and establish itself as a center of excellence. Sustainability is a critical priority, with plans to enhance recycling efforts and invest in local sustainability and corporate social responsibility projects.

Murray McCully, former New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and current Director at Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, highlighted the need for Fiji to serve as a regional hub for Pacific success. He noted, “A robust Pacific economy is essential for New Zealand,” underscoring the geopolitical significance of a strong Pacific region.

McCully praised Brother for its proactive stance on environmental and social responsibility, commending the company’s commitment to investing in concrete initiatives rather than just speaking about such issues. He celebrated Brother as a reputable global company that is dedicated to its role as a responsible international citizen, particularly through its plan to reinvest 10% of after-tax profits back into the community.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the fruitful partnership and the positive relationships fostered in Fiji.
