Brother International (NZ) Ltd has appointed Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its new official distributor for Fiji, marking over two decades of investment in the Fijian market. This strategic partnership is aimed at broadening Brother’s product offerings and fostering growth in the business-to-business sector by collaborating with a distributor well-versed in the needs of the local market.
Pacific Brothers has a solid background in the printing industry, emphasizing customer service and support, including the provision of 24/7 assistance to users throughout Fiji. The company boasts an 80% success rate in resolving issues remotely, emphasizing its commitment to customer satisfaction. Furthermore, Pacific Brothers plans to invest 10% of its profits towards initiatives aimed at reducing child poverty and improving education.
Both Brother and Pacific Brothers aim to create a nationwide network of local Technical Service Providers to enhance customer experience with Brother products.
Graham Walshe, the former Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) Ltd, expressed the company’s intention to focus on financial sustainability by generating positive cash flow and retained earnings within Fiji and the Pacific region. He highlighted the importance of governance, accountability, and community contribution, affirming their commitment to fair taxation and rewarding local partners for generating profits through comprehensive support and services.
Walshe noted that Pacific Brothers operates as a channel model with over ten local partners available for customers to purchase Brother products, reinforcing that the company will not sell directly to end users.
Fiji is positioned to serve as a sales and support hub for the Pacific, with a focus on job creation and becoming a center of excellence. Brother and Pacific Brothers also prioritize sustainability, expanding recycling initiatives and allocating funds for local sustainability and corporate social responsibility projects.
Murray McCully, former New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and current Director of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, stressed the significance of having Fiji as a central hub for a strong Pacific economy. He emphasized New Zealand’s reliance on a robust Pacific region for broader geopolitical stability.
McCully praised Brother’s proactive approach to environmental and social responsibility, noting that while many companies discuss these matters, Brother actively invests in substantial projects. He described Brother as a strong global company with commendable culture and values, underscoring the importance of investing 10% of after-tax profits back into the local community.
Finally, McCully commended Brother’s leadership in promoting environmental sustainability, including a four-year buyback agreement, and expressed gratitude for the successful partnership and positive relationships cultivated in Fiji.
