Brother Expands in Fiji: New Distributor Primer for Local Growth

Brother International (NZ) Ltd has appointed Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its new official distributor in Fiji, bolstering its footprint in the region after more than 20 years of investment. This partnership is designed to enhance Brother’s product offerings and stimulate growth in the business-to-business sector by collaborating with a distributor that is familiar with the specific needs of the Fijian market.

Pacific Brothers comes equipped with significant expertise in the print industry and emphasizes robust customer service. As part of their commitment to customer satisfaction, they will provide 24/7 support for all users across Fiji, achieving an impressive 80% resolution rate for issues remotely.

Furthermore, the company has pledged to channel 10% of its profits toward initiatives aimed at alleviating child poverty and enhancing education in the region. Together, Brother and Pacific Brothers are working to establish a comprehensive network of local Technical Service Providers, ensuring that Brother customers enjoy an optimal experience with their products.

Graham Walshe, former Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) Ltd, emphasized the company’s goal of achieving financial sustainability through positive cash flow and retained earnings in Fiji and the broader Pacific region. He noted the importance of governance, accountability, and contributing meaningfully to the local community. Walshe also highlighted that Pacific Brothers Distributor operates on a channel model, allowing local partners to sell Brother products rather than direct sales to end users.

Fiji is set to become a central hub for sales and support in the Pacific, with the initiative expected to create jobs and foster a center of excellence. Sustainability is also a priority, with plans to expand recycling efforts and allocate funds for local sustainability and corporate social responsibility projects.

Murray McCully, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade for New Zealand and now Director of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, expressed the crucial role of Fiji in developing a robust Pacific economy. He praised Brother’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility, highlighting its propensity to invest in real projects rather than merely discussing ideals.

McCully applauded Brother for its culture and values, noting that 10% of after-tax profits will be reinvested into supporting the local community. He also recognized the company’s efforts in promoting environmental sustainability through initiatives like a four-year buyback program. McCully concluded by expressing appreciation for the partnership and the relationships fostered in Fiji.
