Bristol Bears faced a harsh setback as they were defeated 38-0 by Sale Sharks in the English Premiership at Ashton Gate. This marks the Bears’ heaviest home loss since a 39-0 defeat to Saracens in September 2016. Fijian players Kalaveti Ravouvou and Viliame Mata started for Bristol but struggled to find any scoring opportunities against a dominant Sale side.

Rob du Preez led the Sharks with 15 points, as they managed to neutralize Bristol’s previously effective attack. The match started ominously for Bristol, with Raffi Quirke scoring an early try within two minutes. Subsequently, Tom Roebuck added another, while George Ford successfully kicked a drop goal. Following the halftime break, Ben Curry intercepted a pass to score the Sharks’ third try, and Tom O’Flaherty concluded the scoring with a remarkable try after intercepting and running the length of the field for a bonus point.

This victory marks Sale’s first away win of the season and is a testament to their defensive prowess, allowing them to climb to third place in the Premiership standings.

Although the Bears faced a disappointing defeat, there remains hope for a turnaround as they can learn from this experience and refine their strategies moving forward. Strong performances from their Fijian players can ignite a resurgence in future matches, allowing them to stay competitive in the league.
